A holiday in a mountain town means a holiday on the mountains! Is there a nicer feeling than standing at the summit cross, entering your name in the summit book, unpacking the snack and enjoying the 360 degree view?

The sight of the summit cross activates the last reserves of strength for the last few meters in altitude. The goal is reached at the summit cross - at least the first one, because the descent is yet to come.
The views from the summit cross, whether over Reit im Winkl, over the Dreiseengebiet, to lake Chiemsee or to the Wilder Kaiser mountains, are a reward and always a reason for a break. Sit down, hold your face into the sun, bite into the bread roll or into the chocolate bar.
Then it comes to determining the neighboring peaks. Where have we been, yesterday or maybe last year on holiday in Reit im Winkl? Where are the ski slopes in winter? Where does Bavaria end, where does Tyrol or Salzburg begin? You can't see the borders from the summit, everywhere there is the same green of the grass, gray of the rock, blue of the mountain lakes.
Some of the peaks around Reit im Winkl can only be reached on foot, others by mountain bike, elsewhere gondolas or chairlifts take you to the top. Some are perfect for a sunrise tour, others for sunset, and still others are best on an endless sunny June day.
Among the popular hiking mountains in the area there are, for example, Sonntagshorn, Rauschberg, Hörndlwand, Hochgern, Hochplatte and Geigelstein.
On to the summit cross, collect altitude meters!
