Beautiful cities in the area are popular destinations for day trips for everyone in Reit im Winkl. Whether on a rainy day when the mountains are hiding in the clouds, or on a day when the sore muscles are too sore and there is just enough energy for shopping, a museum or sitting in a café.

Excursion to Traunstein

A stroll through the district town of Traunstein brings variety to the Reit im Winkl holiday. Shops, restaurants and cafes await your visit on the large town square and in the adjoining streets of the old town.There is a particularly nice atmosphere during the annual Christmas market.

Excursion to Rosenheim

The district town of Rosenheim surprises its guests with an alpine atmosphere and Mediterranean flair, whether shopping or drinking coffee in the coffee roasters or cafes on Max-Josefs-Platz. The well-known Lokschuppen exhibition hall offers exciting displays for the whole family.

You can get to know the original locations of the TV series Rosenheim Cops on a city tour. A detour to lake Simssee is worthwhile for swimming.

By car about 45 minutes from Reit im Winkl or environmentally friendly by bus and train via Prien am Chiemsee or Übersee

Day trip to Munich

A tip for rainy days: visit places in Munich that you have always wanted to see. Hofbräuhaus, Allianz Arena, BMW Welt, the Pinakotheken, Hellabrunn Zoo, the famous carillon on Marienplatz are just a few examples, next to shops, cafés and beer gardens.

Of course, big city life also includes the theater, opera, concerts, clubs and bars - on the next day back in Reit im Winkl you just sleep in.

By car from Reit im Winkl about 1.5 hours, there are regular train connections from Prien am Chiemsee or Übersee.

Excursion to Kufstein

From Reit im Winkl to the west past lake Walchsee you get to Kufstein in Tirol. The main attraction is the famous fortress above the Inn river, with a museum and the “Heldenorgel”, the largest open-air organ in the world.

Admire the historic houses in the city center, often richly decorated and artistically painted. A visit to the glass factory is also interesting, where you can learn a lot about the old craft of glass blowing, about the famous Riedel glasses and the importance of glasses when drinking wine.

Excursion to Kitzbühel

Exclusive shops and cafés in a historical setting, the legendary Hahnenkamm ski race on the “Streif”, that's what Kitzbühel in Tyrol is known for. In the picturesque town, on the summit of Kitzbüheler Horn and in the surrounding area, you can walk in the footsteps of the “Bergdoktor” and check out filming locations of the popular TV series.

Excursion to Bad Reichenhall

The German Alpine Road takes you via Inzell to the brine town of Bad Reichenhall. The most popular sights and activities include a ride on the historic cable car to the Predigtstuhl mountain, a visit to the spa and sauna and Rupertus Therme, the old salt works, the spa garden, the brine springs and brine baths.

Easily accessible by the Mozart Express and the RVO bus, or 45 minutes by car
