Lake Taubensee is a secluded, quiet place, accessible only after quite a long hike. Those who bathe in its refreshing water will take unforgettable memories home. The lake is surrounded by lush green alpine meadows and shady mountain forest.
Lake Taubensee is one of the highest lakes in Germany: it is at 1,138 m above sea level, the border between Bavaria and Tyrol runs right through the lake. If you are hiking along the premium hiking trail Chiemseeblick and you are in good physical condition, the detour to Taubensee is definitely worth it!
Tip: Taubensee by hiking bus ("Wanderbus")
Take the hiking bus to the Streichen car park. There you start your hike over the Chiemhauseralm and the Kroatensteig to lake Taubensee.
