Tour description:
The Chiemsee cycle path circles the "Bavarian Sea", the second largest inland lake in Germany, for around 60 kilometers. It leads alternately in panoramic sections over roads with little traffic and past numerous bathing spots and offers the opportunity to visit the Herreninsel with the famous Herrenchiemsee Castle and the Fraueninsel at several ship landing stages. The route passes nine villages with numerous places to stop for refreshments and is well signposted in both directions. The imposing lake and Alpine panorama accompanies cyclists on the entire circular tour. The Chiemsee cycle path is ideal for normal to sporty cyclists and e-bikers. The route leads on dirt roads, paved bike paths and side roads and can be used with standard touring bikes. At 159 meters in altitude, the cycle route only overcomes a few slight inclines. It is better paved than the more leisurely Chiemsee Rundweg, which we recommend for pleasure and family cyclists.
