Lake Pillersee Loop

Part of this route runs along the route of the Senior World Championship, which takes place every year in St. Johann.

The first 4 kilometers are downhill across the border to Kössen. Before the entrance sign, we turn left towards St. Johann, Waidring, Erpfendorf. As far as the municipality of Erpfendorf, it goes on the busy, but wide, flat road.

Before Erpfendorf we turn right into a small side street, via Kirchdorf we finally get to St. Johann. The peak of the Kitzbüheler Horn is always in view. In St. Johann turn left towards Fieberbrunn past the Eichenhof lifts.

At Fieberbrunn it goes towards Hochfilzen. Instead of following the main road, however, at the end of Fieberbrunn we turn in the direction of the Gasthaus zur Eisernen Hand, which is a much nicer option for us. Before we reach the main road to Hochfilzen again, we see the mighty Jacob's Cross on the Buchensteinwand summit in front of us.

We will come across this sight several times, as we ride around this mountain to Waidring. In Hochfilzen we turn left towards the biathlon center, and take the side road to the left to Ortisei.

Along lake Pillersee it goes flat again until we tackle the descent to Waidring. At Waidring we keep left again and ride over the main road to Erpfendorf. There we turn right and complete our circle in the direction of Reit im Winkl.
