An easy hike with refreshment stops and breathtaking scenery
Tour description:
Tip: This tour is also a good idea in bad weather, as you hike on paved forest roads, good hiking shoes are recommended.
From the starting point towards Muckklause (circular route). Visit of the Muckklause. Return via Mösererstube and then on to the starting point Winklmoos - Alm.
Special features: The Muckklause was first mentioned in 1626 and built from solid red marble in 1792. It was used as a dam for "wood drifting". The saltworks in Bad Reichenhall needed huge amounts of firewood from the surrounding forests for the evacuation of the brine (salt springs from the mountain).
With the hermitage closed, the felled and shortened trunks were collected in the dry stream bed. The flood of water from the then opened hermitage washed the wood down the Unkenbach into the Saalach river, which flows through Bad Reichenhall.
On this tour you can use the free hiking bus. Please note the timetable!
