Cycle through the Achental! A varied route with beautiful cultural landscapes and various nature reserves awaits you.
Tour description:
The Achental cycle path opens up the entire Achental from Chiemsee to the Tyrolean border. It runs relatively flat on well-developed, paved paths, away from roads. The route is signposted throughout. Starting in Übersee, you first head south, always keeping in mind the massive incision that the Achental cuts into the chain of the Chiemgau Alps. It continues via Grassau into the now narrowing valley. Marquartstein with its castle is the place where the Ache leaves the mountains in an impressive river loop. Via Raiten with its pilgrimage church it goes up to Mettenham and Schleching. From here, the head of the valley dominated by the Geigelstein can be reached in a few minutes near Ettenhausen. The circular route now turns back north and leads down to Unterwössen. The next place is again Marquartstein. Passing under the castle you get directly to the banks of the Achen and further down the valley via Staudach-Egerndach into the characteristic landscape of the Chiemsee high moors and back to the starting point at Übersee. The entire tour also leads to the impressive Chiemsee moors of Bergen and Grabenstätt. Abbreviations are possible in many places. Public transport Chiemsee circular bus line for the northern part of the Achental cycle path (Grassau, Übersee, Grabenstätt). All places are accessible by RVO bus lines. Übersee and Bergen have train stations with hourly train connections to Munich and Salzburg.
